The University of Memphis (UofM) is a public research university located in Memphis, Tennessee. As with previous responses, please note that my knowledge is current up to September 2021, and some information may have changed since then.
1. History: The University of Memphis was founded in 1912 as the West Tennessee State Normal School, with an initial focus on training teachers. In 1925, it became West Tennessee State Teachers College, and in 1941, it was renamed Memphis State College.
